The Children's Online Privacy Protection Act ("COPPA") requires that we inform parents and legal guardians about how we collect, use, and disclose personal information from children under 13 years of age. The MAGIC Project is not directed at children under 13 years of age, but we recognize that with proper adult supervision, some parents might permit their children to visit the MAGIC Project and use our service. COPPA requires that we obtain the consent of parents and guardians in order for children under 13 years of age to use our website.
The MAGIC Project has created this privacy policy to clearly outline for the site's users what types of information will be collected through use of this site and for what purposes the information will be used. This statement discloses the information gathering practices for the MAGIC Project.
No data transmissions over the internet or via wireless networks can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. Consequently, we cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to us, and you do so at your own risk. Once we receive your transmission, we make efforts to ensure security on our systems.
The MAGIC Project does not keep permanent records on its website. When a potential mentee applies online, an automated email is sent to her email address. She then confirms her request by clicking on a URL provided in the automatic email. After she clicks on the URL, registration is complete, and an email is sent to a MAGIC Project officer, who then deletes the mentee information from the website backend, and the only existing record of the mentee's information is the email and a printed hardcopy that is kept in a notebook in a secure location.
The MAGIC Project is the sole owner of the information collected through this site. The MAGIC Project will not sell, rent, or share any information gathered through this site for commercial purposes.
No area of our site is directed at children under 13 years of age, but our site asks for age-identifying information from our visitors.
